15-year-old gang raped in Mumbai

MUMBAI: As incidents of rape are on a rise in the metropolis, another incident of rape on a 15-year-old-girl has come to light here.

Police said at around 2030 hours on Tuesday, the victim and her boyfriend Sandeep Choudhary (20) were on their way to home at Wagle Estate, Thane from Navi Mumbai on a motorbike. Meanwhile, they had to stop due to technical snag occured in their bike near Airoli Bridge, linking Thane and Navi Mumbai.

Four Marathi speaking persons in the age group of 20-22 years climbed up from down the bridge and attacked the couple.

Two of them allegedly attacked Chaudhary and the other two took the girl down the bridge, leaving the boy behind in semi-conscious state.

According to the statement of the victim, two of them raped her. They dropped her near Vikroli Railway station in eastern suburbs on Wednesday morning and fled away.

Initially, the victim was rushed to nearby Godrej Hospital, thereafter she was shifted to state-run JJ Hospital in south-central Mumbai. Her medical examination reports confirmed the rape.

A case of rape has been registered by Navghar police and further are investigations. No arrest has been made so far.

A couple of days ago, a case of rape on a cancer patient in country's famous Tata Memorial Hospital here had come into light.
